Method 1: transparent second skin bandages/Saniderm/ Hyperfix

For all types of tattoo

 

  1. As instructed by artist, leave bandage on up to 3 days.

  2. Remove bandage in warm shower, gently clean with unscented antibacterial soap, pat dry and let it rest for 18-24 hrs before using light unscented moisturizer.

  3. Keep the tattoo clean and moisturize daily. Do NOT over moisturize. Use a thin layer 2-3 times throughout the day.

  4. It will take about 3 to 4.5 weeks to heal depending how much work is done.

  5. It is normal if there is adhesive residue from the bandage on the skin after removal. Gently clean it with unscented soap and warm water. It may take a couple wash to completely remove adhesive.

  6. Keep heavy physical activity to minimum and avoid excessive sweating.

  7. If irritation, discomfort, rancid smell occurs , please remove bandage immediately and clean with up scented soap and look into DRY HEAL method or email me bookings@evanyuink.com for any questions or concerns.


Method 2: Dry Heal

Best for Blackwork / Line Work / Black & Grey Pieces

 

Steps:

  1. Take off wrapping as soon as you get one. If applied with tattoo pad, overnight is fine.

  2. Wash gently with unscented soap

  3. Pat dry with soft paper towel

  4. When tattoo is completely dry [no weeps] let it rest for 12-24 hours before applying a thin layer of unscented moisturizer.

  5. Reapply lotion 3-4 times a day, whenever it is dry and the skin feels tight.

  6. Repeat steps 2-5 until the tattoo is completely heal.


Additional healing tip:

  1. If tattooed on the lower leg, please try no put your full body weight on it for long period of time, keep the leg elevated. This will help reduce swelling and complications during the healing process.

  2. Eat lots of protein and keep yourself well hydrated.

  3. Cleanliness is priority! Keeping the tattoo clean and dry is important. Excess moisture harbours bacteria and creates infection and complications in the tattoo.

  4. If you notice any major allergy or reactions please clean the area gently with antibacterial soap and pat dry. Do not add any moisturizers. If symptom worsens, contact your doctor.

  5. Flu-like symptoms can occur after long tattoo session, it is due to your body being exhausted and recovering from the tattoo. Make sure to keep yourself hydrated and eat well during the tattoo session and after. If needed, you can take over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve).


Things NOT to do:

  1. Do not touch or scratch your tattoo

  2. Do not expose to direct sun or go sun tanning until it is healed. Suntanning and excessive sun exposure will cause fading.

  3. Do not go swimming until it is completely healed.

  4. Do not let your pets touch your tattoo before it is healed.

  5. Do not do heavy exercise activity until it is full healed.
